Record intact
Chuck Stapleman
and Jim Lawrence kept their record intact by again capturing the booby
prize at the annual ISA golf outing at MidVallee in Kaukauna. Jim and
Chuck have managed to come in last every year that this tournament has
been held, except for twice; and Chuck teamed with Tom Fraley to take
last place once. Some people just take more time to practice.
Ethernet Based
PLC
Intelligent
Instrumentation has reinvented itself as a maker of open architecture
programmable logic controllers. Their new EDAS CE is a Windows CE based
PLC that is very economical and easy to use if you have any kind of
analog I/O to deal with. We can provide the engineering and programming.
We now have a multifunction EDAS as part of our demo pool. We have added
programs to it for monitoring a heat soak furnace and for keeping track
of a Williamson Pro100 infrared pyrometer.
New On-Line
Catalog
We now have our
own on-line catalog page at On-Line Catalog
Try it out. We will be building it up as we go along. So far we are
offering a vibration meter and a digital pressure guage and vibration
monitoring systems.
Protect Your
Data
We now have three
product lines to protect your data. Control Concepts,
the maker of Islatrol, has TVSS products that keep spikes and noise
from getting into your signal or data lines. These very economical products
supress the disturbances. Dataforth
makes signal conditioners for your signal lines and limited distance
modems for your data communications to isolate and amplify your important
information. S.I. Tech has fiber optic interface products to eliminate
any noise or ground loops that may exist.
Plug-And-Play
Sensors
Wilcoxon
has joined with National Instruments and the Plug and Play sensor program
with a new feature on their more popular sensors called Transducer Electronic
Data Sheets (TEDS) that conform to the IEEE P1451.4 standard. Companies
involved in this program will now have automatically configured measurement
and automation systems for vibration measurements. From Wilcoxon it
is a $35 option on the 786A, 787A, 793, 797, 797L, & 797V sensors.
You can order the whole package and or the new sensors from Stapleman
Corporation.
Ruggedized Fiber
Optic Interface
S.I.Tech
has a new ruggedized mini bit-driver to interface an RS232 port to fiber
optic cable. This new instrument can handle -40 degF to +175 degF and
provides IEC 801 surge protection. It was originally designed for use
in power company substations, but it can be used anywhere that commercial
grade instruments will not handle the environment.
Kobold has new
catalogs
Kobold
has three new catalogs: An overview of all four product lines - flow,
level, pressure and temperature; and full catalogs on flow and level.
We have them in stock. Let me know if you want one or more.
OpTest FQA to
Western Michigan University
Western Michigan
University has just contracted with OpTest for
a new Hi Resolution Fiber Quality Analyzer to be delivered in September.
The state-of-the-art analyzer will be used in their new paper technology
lab.
